Hang in there for the Denouement

One of my favourite words in the English language is Denouement.

Denouement means that final part of a narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved; where things are made clear.

I love it because it reminds me that so often in our lives, we have no way of knowing what the hell is going on and why.

When we’re right in the middle of a particular story/situation/lesson - it’s confusing and muddy and messy.

The way through is unclear or impossible or scary as fuck. Things seem to be getting worse not better.

Until.

At some point something shifts. Things look different than they did yesterday. New resources make themselves apparent.

There’s some semblance of it making sense. Things start to tie together and move forward.

And then one day we look back and we're able to see the full arc of that particular story in our lives.

We see what we learnt from those twists and turns, and who we've become as a result.

That's Denouement.

And if we hang in there, it always comes.
