High-functioning anxiety is so prevalent in our society that a relentless racing mind seems normal.
We’ve normalised:
- constant rushing and busyness
- relentless worrying
- a fierce inner critic
- struggling to be present with our kids
- being unable to switch off
- constant low-level stress
- feeling guilty and not enough
These things may be normal, ie a large proportion of us experience them … but they are not natural.
Living this way is not how human beings were designed to live and thrive.
Nor is it what we need to settle for, even in this modern world with all its craziness and intensity.
There is another way. A profoundly different way of relating to your thinking, and to yourself.
I know this pathway intimately because I’ve walked it myself. I know what it’s like to be an obsessive-compulsive over-thinking perfectionist, and to be resigned to the fact that it’s just who I am.
And I know the incredible level of freedom and peace that is available for us all.
Even now, years into freedom from my relentless mind, I still marvel at the wonder of being able to make a mistake and not murder myself for it. At being able to enjoy others’ company without panicking that I’ve said the wrong thing. At going through a rough patch and not being completely consumed by worry and stress.
I think it will always feel like a miracle to me. And yet it’s what available to ALL OF US when we have the tools and practices, not to better manage our thinking but to completely transform our relationship to our minds and to ourselves.
Lovely, if this work is calling to you,
If you want more for yourself than the merry go round or self-doubt, worry and stress …
If you desire to embody your inner wise woman and live from your intuition not your inner critic …
